WNBA legend Lisa Leslie celebrates Christmas with Louisiana Scholarship Program Families

WNBA legend, 4-time Olympic gold medal winner and Champion for Choice, Lisa Leslie joined Louisiana Scholarship Program families in Baton Rouge on Tuesday (Dec. 13) at the Louisiana Federation for Children’s Christmas Celebration. Leslie talked about her support for school choice and why she is involved in helping to advocate for more educational options.

“Our kids need to have the best education possible. Why should we be stuck in certain areas, to have less education because we have less income. Something about that is not fundamentally right,” said Leslie.

Kevin P. Chavous, founding board member of the American Federation for Children, encouraged parents, many of whom were impacted by the Louisiana’s 2016 Flood, to continue to fight for the best education for their children.

Chavous went on to say that children should also stand up for their education. “Don’t let anyone stop you from getting what you deserve with your education. Be willing to fight for your education.”
