Good Morning

A great day yesterday for children, parents and supporters of the Louisiana Scholarship Program. The Senate Education Committee rejected legislation in Gov. John Bel Edwards’ education agenda which proposed restricting Kindergarten eligibility for students entering the LSP.

Parents and educators testified in opposition to Senate Bill 13 and were bolstered with great support from our school choice coalition. Thanks to everyone!

Governor’s bid to curb vouchers killed by Senate committee

With little fanfare, Gov. John Bel Edwards’ proposal to limit access to vouchers was rejected Thursday by the Senate Education Committee.

Five of the panel’s seven members cast “no” votes.

The action marks the latest setback for the governor’s education agenda, which was battered last year and has made little headway in 2017, even with a modest list of bills.
