Louisiana celebrates Private School Choice Day

Students and families from across Louisiana gathered at the State Capitol to celebrate the first ever Private School Choice Day. Louisiana’s private school choice options provide an opportunity for every child to achieve his or her full potential.

Louisiana Federation for Children President Ann Duplessis told the gathering, “choice and your parent’s ability to say, ‘what works best for me’ is important.”

Michael Benjamin, American Federation for Children’s National Director of Grassroots Advocacy and Mobilization, told parents their voices must be heard. “It is extremely important that you put a voice and face to your future.”

More than 8,700 students currently benefit from the Louisiana Scholarship Program, Tuition Donation Rebate Program and School Choice Program, which serves students with disabilities.

Private School Choice Day also served as an opportunity to say thank you to Louisiana’s lawmakers who continue to support parents and protect school choice programs that serve the state’s most disadvantaged children.
