Educational Choice Option: Louisiana Scholarship Program

Demetrice StoneDemetrice Stone knew something wasn’t quite right. Her three children’s classroom skills were not where she thought they should have been for children their ages.

“I didn’t know what was going on. On my end, I thought I was doing what I was supposed to be doing. And I thought the teacher was,” said Demetrice. “It just seemed like it wasn’t working.”

“To be honest, I don’t think their future would be as bright. Their outlook would be very poor.”

It was at the moment she heard about the Louisiana Scholarship Program. Now four years after enrolling her children at Hosanna Christian Academy in Baton Rouge, Demetrice says the outlook is much brighter.

“They’re more confident in their social, academic and cognitive skills. Even in the way they are taught – their math, their reading, just everything! They could pretty much teach other children because they’re so confident in how they’re taught.”

Demetrice said providing an excellent education for LeRon, Jr., LenTez and Lauren is both a challenge and labor of love. “You’ve got to be their eyes and ears and everything. You can’t assume they know. You can’t just assume that they are getting the material. You just can’t assume that they like their school.”
